Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this press. Those submissions considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the scope and outline of the book are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the book. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Requirement for original content:

Authors are required to download and complete the originality statement form, ensuring that all required information is provided, especially when multiple authors are involved. See the Authorship and Ethics Template and Contribution Template for more details.

Citation and reference guidelines:

OM Editorial uses APA standards (7th edition) as the international standard for citing references. Authors can find more information about these guidelines at: https://apastyle.apa.org/.

Formal aspects:

  • Manuscripts must be at least 60 pages long, including all supplementary elements such as the cover page, illustrations, bibliographical references, and appendices.
  • The file must be sent in editable Word format (.doc or .docx), using A4 paper, with standard margins of 2.5 cm, 12-point Arial font, 1.5 line spacing, no space between paragraphs, and no indentation.
  • Each page must be numbered consecutively in the lower right corner.
  • Incorporated graphs and tables must be properly identified, in accordance with the guidelines established in the APA standards, seventh edition.
  • The use of bold and underlining in the body of the text is prohibited, with italics only permitted to emphasize technical concepts, relevant terms, or expressions in other languages.
  • Abbreviations and acronyms should be explained in parentheses the first time they are mentioned in the content.
  • If URLs or DOIs are included, they must be functional, complete, and provided when available.

Writing aspects:

It is essential to ensure a high level of accuracy in spelling, grammar, and semantics, both in Spanish and English. It is recommended to maintain an impersonal tone, preferably using the third person singular for greater formality and objectivity.

Legal aspects:

The correct attribution of sources is mandatory to avoid any form of plagiarism, whether through textual use or paraphrasing. Failure to comply with this rule, including the detection of plagiarism or self-plagiarism, will be sufficient grounds for immediate rejection of the manuscript. Only works that are completely original will be considered for publication.

Ethical Conduct - Code of Ethics:

OM Editorial promotes a commitment to rigorous ethical conduct at all stages of the editorial process. Authors, reviewers, readers, and committee members are expected to act with professional integrity and comply with the ethical standards recognized by the international scientific community. The Publisher adheres to the main international codes of ethics, including the Code of Conduct and Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [http://www.councilscienceeditors.org], the regulations of the Council of Science Editors (http://www.councilscienceeditors.org), the guidelines of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) [http://cioms.ch], and the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) [http://www.icmje.org].

Plagiarism detection policy:

OM Editorial maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and any type of fraudulent practice. All manuscripts received will be subjected to an originality check using Turnitin software before being sent for peer review.

If any form of fraud is identified, the manuscript will be immediately withdrawn from the editorial process, and the author will be notified of the situation. In the event of detecting plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or any other violation of ethical standards, the Publisher will implement the following measures:

  • Rejection of the manuscript.
  • Direct communication to the author(s) regarding the detected infringement.

OM Editorial urges researchers to accurately and appropriately cite all original sources used in their work. In order to guarantee the quality and originality of published articles, each contribution will be subjected to a similarity analysis using Turnitin plagiarism detection software, ensuring compliance with the highest ethical standards.

The Publisher follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding good publishing practices, reinforcing its commitment to academic integrity. Likewise, the Publisher reserves the right to use Turnitin at any stage of the publishing process, including both manuscripts under review and those already published, in order to verify the originality of the documents.

Peer review process:

Each manuscript received will be evaluated by two external reviewers, who will use a standard instrument for evaluating and arbitrating scientific articles (Review Template) to issue their assessment. After completing the review process, authors will be notified of the status of their work, which may be: accepted without modifications, accepted with modifications, or rejected, always respecting the opinion issued by the reviewers.

The evaluation process will follow a double-blind model to ensure objectivity and avoid bias, ensuring that neither the authors nor the reviewers know the identities of the parties involved. The confidentiality of this procedure will be the responsibility of the editorial committee.

Once the reviewers have completed their evaluations and, if necessary, the suggested corrections have been incorporated, the editorial committee will make the final decision regarding the publication of the manuscript. Subsequently, the article will be laid out and sent to the editor-in-chief for final approval before being officially published by the publisher.
