El libro Educación basada en datos. Learning Analytics para mejorar el rendimiento académico y la gestión universitaria analiza el papel de los datos educativos en la transformación responsable de la educación superior. Su propósito es ofrecer una comprensión rigurosa y pedagógicamente sensible sobre cómo Learning Analytics puede contribuir al seguimiento del aprendizaje, la detección temprana de riesgos académicos, la mejora del rendimiento estudiantil y el fortalecimiento de la toma de decisiones institucionales. La obra parte de la premisa de que los datos no poseen valor educativo por sí mismos, sino cuando son interpretados desde criterios pedagógicos, éticos y contextuales. A lo largo de sus capítulos, se examinan los fundamentos conceptuales de la educación basada en datos, sus aplicaciones en el acompañamiento académico, su aporte a la gestión universitaria y los desafíos asociados a la privacidad, la transparencia, la gobernanza y la responsabilidad institucional. El enfoque del libro rechaza una visión tecnocrática de la analítica educativa y propone una integración equilibrada entre tecnología, pedagogía, gestión y sentido humano. En este marco, Learning Analytics se concibe como una herramienta estratégica para mejorar la calidad, la inclusión y la permanencia estudiantil.
