Este libro analiza los modelos avanzados de gestión del cuidado centrado en la persona en enfermería, articulando humanización, calidad asistencial y seguridad del paciente como dimensiones inseparables de una práctica profesional ética, científica y socialmente responsable. La obra parte de los fundamentos contemporáneos del cuidado, reconociendo a la persona como sujeto biográfico, familiar, cultural y comunitario, no solo como portadora de una enfermedad. Desde esta perspectiva, se examina la gestión del cuidado como una competencia estratégica que integra liderazgo enfermero, continuidad asistencial, coordinación interprofesional, planes individualizados, entornos favorables y toma de decisiones situada. Asimismo, se profundiza en la calidad y seguridad del paciente mediante indicadores sensibles a enfermería, cultura justa, comunicación clínica, participación familiar y protocolos humanizados. El texto otorga especial relevancia a la Educación Superior, al sostener que la formación en enfermería debe enseñar, practicar, evaluar e investigar competencias humanizadas, seguras e innovadoras desde el aula, la simulación y la práctica clínica. Finalmente, se propone una ruta de implementación, evaluación e innovación tecnológica con sentido humano, orientada a construir instituciones capaces de cuidar mejor, aprender de sus procesos y sostener la dignidad de la persona.
