Synopsis

La producción pecuaria contemporánea enfrenta el desafío de responder simultáneamente a las demandas de productividad, seguridad alimentaria, bienestar animal, sostenibilidad ambiental y viabilidad económica, dentro de contextos territoriales marcados por profundas diferencias sociales, tecnológicas y productivas. Este libro analiza esa transformación desde una mirada integradora, considerando que la eficiencia ya no puede entenderse únicamente como aumento del rendimiento, sino como la capacidad de articular recursos, conocimiento biológico, salud animal, infraestructura, trabajo humano y tecnologías emergentes. A lo largo de sus capítulos se examinan los cambios que atraviesan los sistemas pecuarios, la necesidad de replantear los modelos de producción, la importancia del bienestar y la responsabilidad sanitaria, así como el creciente papel de la digitalización, los sensores, el análisis de datos y la inteligencia artificial. La propuesta sostiene que la tecnología adquiere verdadero valor cuando fortalece la capacidad de decisión de productores, veterinarios y técnicos, sin sustituir el conocimiento contextual ni desconocer las condiciones económicas, ambientales y culturales de cada territorio. Bajo esta perspectiva, los sistemas pecuarios del futuro se conciben como estructuras adaptativas en las que productividad, bienestar, sostenibilidad e innovación deben avanzar de manera articulada.

Author Biographies

Mayra Carolina Marquez-López, Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana

Ingeniera Zootecnista por la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana (UNAP), colegiada y habilitada para el ejercicio profesional. Bachiller en Educación, con Maestría en Gestión Pública y Maestría en Educación. Actualmente es estudiante del Doctorado en Ciencias con mención en Producción Animal y del Doctorado en Educación. Cuenta con experiencia profesional en los sectores público y privado, desempeñándose en actividades de docencia, investigación y extensión universitaria. Actualmente es docente de la Facultad de Zootecnia de la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana (UNAP), sede Yurimaguas, donde participa en la formación de profesionales y en el desarrollo de proyectos de investigación orientados al fortalecimiento del sector agropecuario y la educación superior.

María Elena Díaz-Pabló, Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana

Ingeniera Zootecnista y Magíster en Producción Animal por la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM), donde también obtuvo su Doctorado, Doctoris Philosophiae en Agricultura Sustentable. Su sólida formación académica la ha posicionado como una referente en el desarrollo pecuario sostenible y la investigación aplicada. Con una destacada trayectoria de 30 años en la docencia universitaria, se desempeña como Docente Principal en la Facultad de Zootecnia de la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana (UNAP). Su liderazgo institucional la llevó a ocupar la Dirección del Instituto de Investigación de dicha facultad (2008-2013), desde donde impulsó la generación de ciencia adaptada a los desafíos de los ecosistemas tropicales. Línea de investigación: Innovaciones Tecnológicas y Procesos productivos sustentables. Área, Alimentación Animal y Biotecnología reproductiva. Sistemas de Producción Sustentable en la Amazonía.

Hernando Vásquez-Macedo, Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana

Ingeniero Agrónomo, egresado de la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana (UNAP), con maestría en Ciencias, mención Ecología y Desarrollo Sostenible por la misma institución. Docente de la Facultad de Zootecnia de la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana, donde desarrolla labores de enseñanza e investigación en el área pecuaria, con un enfoque de Desarrollo Sostenible.  Con experiencia en ganadería tropical. 

Gabriel Enrique Paima-Ramírez, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Alto Amazonas

Ingeniero Zootecnista, con Maestría en Gestión y Maestría en Docencia Universitaria; actualmente cursa estudios de Doctorado en Educación y Producción Animal. Realizó prácticas profesionales durante ocho años consecutivos en la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, en las áreas de porcinos, aves, bovinos y curtiembre. Cuenta con más de 30 años de experiencia en Educación Básica Regular. Desde 2014 es instructor del SENATI y, desde hace más de cinco años, docente universitario en la UNAAA y la UNAP. Magíster en Nutrición Animal (M.Sc.) por la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina e Ingeniero Pesquero con más de 15 años de trayectoria, especializado en piscicultura semiintensiva y manejo productivo de peces amazónicos. Aporta sólida capacidad técnica y de decisión en la gestión pública pesquera y acuícola, con experiencia en planificación e implementación de políticas sectoriales en Madre de Dios. Conduce transferencia tecnológica y capacitación en comunidades nativas. Primer puesto en el Concurso Nacional de Proyectos de Investigación Pesquera (SNP). Docente universitario con más de 10 años de ejercicio, actualmente en la UNAMAD, y formulador de proyectos para PNIPA y ProInnóvate.

Luis Rodrigo Balarezo-Urresta, Universidad Politécnica Estatal del Carchi (UPEC)

Doctor en Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia por la Universidad Central del Ecuador, con especializaciones en Reproducción Animal, Sanidad Animal Avanzada, Nutrición y Reproducción, además de una Maestría en Producción Animal y un PhD en Ciencias Veterinarias. Desde 2009 se desempeña como docente titular de la Universidad Politécnica Estatal del Carchi (UPEC), impartiendo asignaturas relacionadas con fisiología, nutrición, producción ganadera y biotecnología reproductiva.

Cuenta con amplia experiencia profesional en producción, reproducción, sanidad y nutrición animal, tanto en el ámbito académico como productivo. Ha ejercido cargos directivos en la UPEC, entre ellos Director de Carrera, Director del Centro de Posgrados y Director del Centro de Investigación y Transferencia Tecnológica. Es autor y coautor de artículos científicos y tutor de tesis de grado y maestría.

Su trayectoria ha sido reconocida con distinciones académicas nacionales e internacionales, entre ellas medalla de oro como mejor egresado, becas internacionales de formación en España e Israel, premio al mejor artículo científico y reconocimiento como mejor docente de la UPEC en 2017. Asimismo, presidió el Colegio de Médicos Veterinarios del Carchi durante el periodo 2020–2024.
